Gwendolynne began her love for the outdoors exploring the mountains and going on adventures with her family. Encouraging her love of the outdoors, her father signed her up for climbing lessons at the local climbing gym. She was hooked and eventually began working at the climbing gym as rock climbing instructor and class coordinator as well as managing and coaching the rock climbing team. Gwendolynne’s roll at the gym eventually evolved into a private personal trainer. Specializing in adventure sports, she became an outdoor guide and would lead rock climbing and backpacking trips.
After an injury to her spine in her early 20’s left her partially paralyzed through her left leg and unable to enjoy her normal life, Gwendolynne had no choice but to undergo spinal surgery. The road to recovery was long with many setbacks and she was often frustrated missing her outdoor activities. Gwendolynne threw herself into recovery, spending time researching recovery methods and forming her own recovery routine with a mix of aquatic based movements, and circuit training programs mixed with stability, strength and proprioception work. After two years of focused recovery, she signed up for her first 10k race. Gwendolynne now runs at least one trail running race a year, anywhere from a 10k to a half marathon, as a reminder of how hard work and patience can pay off.
Gwendolynne’s rehabilitation inspired her love for biomechanics, injury prevention and recovery. She graduated from Cabrillo College with her associates degree in kinesiology and communications with a focus in athletic training Working with athletes helped her build a wide range of skills in both rehabilitation and injury prevention through functional movement testing and corrective exercise routines. She continued her education to become a certified personal trainer with an added focus on running gait and biomechanics. Gwendolynne applies her years of technique toward training programs for her clients, helping them build a strong mental and physical core to apply to their overall wellness goals.
